On the occasion of Sharidiya Durgotsava, the President congratulated all Hindus. Sahabuddin. He said, celebration of Durga Puja with proper enthusiasm and various programs across the country is a unique example of our communal harmony.

He said these things in a speech on Tuesday on the occasion of Sharidiya Durgotsava on October 9.

The President said that the tradition and culture of traditional Bengal is mixed with Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community. The Hindu community of this country has been celebrating Durga Puja with great enthusiasm and festive atmosphere for a long time. Durga Puja is a religious festival as well as a social festival. On the occasion of Durgotsava, people from all walks of life come together and join in the joyous festival. The collective participation of all has made this festival universal. Along with religious festivals, Durga Puja plays an important role in creating mutual solidarity and unity among the people of the country. May the autumn Durgosava become radiant with the light of truth and beauty; I wish that the bonds of harmony and amity between all irrespective of caste and religion should be strengthened.

He said, peace and humanity is the eternal message of all religions. Religion calls people to the path of justice and goodness, keeps them away from injustice and untruth, shows the way to liberation. So besides following the religious precepts we have to come forward for the welfare of humanity. In several districts of the south-eastern part of the country, the life-style including life, infrastructure, agriculture and livestock has been greatly affected by the recent severe floods. The spontaneous participation of all irrespective of caste as well as the government with the help of Banvasi people has highlighted the triumph of human welfare. I call on everyone to provide safe shelter, food, medicine and safe water for survival as well as rehabilitate the flood victims and stand by the affected people.

The President also said that communal harmony is the eternal tradition of Bengalis. We must be more proactive in carrying this tradition forward collectively. I believe that the non-communal spirit, mutual unity, amity and harmony inherent in the current Bengali culture will contribute effectively to the formation of a beautiful future and modern Bangladesh. I hope that people and humanity will win in the world. May the autumn festival be a success. May Bangladesh live forever.
