The Awami League government collapsed on August 5 in the face of a student uprising. During that government, many of the police officers were involved in unprofessional activities. At that time there was extreme anger of the common people towards the police. So after the fall of the government, one attack after another came on the police.

Incidents of attack, vandalism and arson took place in various police establishments including the police station. About half a hundred policemen were killed. 5 thousand 73 police weapons and 65 thousand 177 rounds of ammunition were looted.

August 8 Dr. Some of the looted weapons and ammunition were returned after the Yunus-led government was formed. The police show this weapon as salvage. But many weapons remain outside. There are many fears about this. In this situation, the government ordered to submit the looted weapons and ammunition by September 3. But a significant number of arms and ammunition were not deposited within the stipulated time. Therefore, a special operation was started from September 4 to recover these weapons. In total, 4,254 weapons and 3,6,153 rounds of ammunition have been recovered in the last two months. However, 1 thousand 459 weapons and 245 thousand 24 rounds of ammunition have not yet been recovered. This information is known from several related sources.

Sources at the police headquarters said that 1,292 Chinese rifles were looted by the police in the attack, vandalism and arson. Of these, 951 have been recovered so far. 171 Chinese rifles have not yet been recovered. Out of the 10 looted rifles, nine have already been recovered. Out of 245 looted Chinese SMGs, 216 have been recovered. Operation is ongoing to recover 29 SMGs. 32 LMGs were looted due to unstable situation. Of these, 27 have been recovered. Five LMGs remain to be recovered. 539 Chinese pistols were looted during anti-government protests. Of these, 308 have been recovered. 231 are left to be rescued.

According to sources, all of the looted 33 nine by 19 mm pistols have been recovered. Two thousand 68 shotguns of 11 bore were looted. Among them, 1,643 have been recovered. 425 are left to be rescued. Out of 585 gas guns looted, 445 were recovered. Besides, 15 gas launchers were looted. Eight of them have been recovered. And two of the three looted signal pistols are yet to be recovered.

According to the sources, 3 lakh 1 thousand 939 rounds of teargas shells of different types were looted during the uprising of students. Already 1 lakh nine thousand 362 rounds of teargas shells have been recovered. Out of 1,475 rounds of looted tear gas grenades, 1,182 rounds were recovered. Four thousand 733 rounds of sound grenades were looted. Of these, 1,519 rounds have not yet been recovered. Out of 290 rounds of color smoke grenades, 441 rounds were recovered. All of the looted 55 rounds of multiple bang stun grenades have been recovered. Besides, 900 rounds of flash bang were looted. Among them, 226 rounds were recovered. Out of 178 rounds of looted hand held tear gas spray, 62 rounds were recovered. 116 rounds of hand held tear gas spray are yet to be recovered.

Police Headquarters AIG Inamul Haque Sagar told Jugantar that most of the looted weapons and ammunition have been recovered. Our operation is ongoing to find the arms, ammunition which have not yet been recovered.
