Mahmudur Rahman appeared at the Dhaka District Commissioner's office on Tuesday (October 8) and signed the declaration as a publisher. Former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and city editor of Dainik Amar Desh newspaper Muhammad Abdullah gave this information. He complained that the Awami government did not change the editor and publisher of Amar Desh Patrika in the past despite applying due process.


Mahmudur Rahman, the editor of Amar Desh Patrika, returned to the country on September 27. He returned home after living in exile for almost five and a half years. During the rule of Awami League, more than 124 cases were filed against Mahmudur Rahman across the country. The court sentenced Mahmudur Rahman and his wife to seven years imprisonment in a case. In the case, he has to suffer prison torture.


Even after returning home after the fall of the fascist government, he had to go to prison. But after five days he was released on bail. Mahmudur Rahman was arrested in the first phase in June 2010 and in the second phase in April 2013, and the Awami League government shut down the Amar Desh newspaper edited by him.


Dainik Amar Desh Patrika started in 2004. The newspaper was owned by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's political secretary and former member of parliament Mosaddeq Ali Falu. One-Eleven later changed ownership of the magazine when Falu went to prison. Former Chairman of National Investment Board Mahmudur Rahman took charge. When the Awami League government came to power in 2008, Dainik Amar Desh was initially critical of the government. The newspaper gained great popularity among the anti-government. However, the Awami League government fell under fire.
