However, the buyers complain that the price is too high. Sellers argue that if you want to sell cut fish, you have to charge a higher price. On the contrary, consumers complain that the price of cut fish is more than double that of whole fish.

On Thursday (October 10) morning, the sale of hilsa was officially inaugurated by the fishermen's association of Sahebbazar in Rajshahi city. Farid Mamud Hasan, President of Rajshahi Business Coordination Council and Sekender Ali, General Secretary officially inaugurated the program there.

Business leader Sekender Ali campaigned about it a day earlier. He said on his Facebook profile that from Thursday the buyer can buy a piece of hilsa if he wants. However, many could not go to the market and buy a piece of hilsa from Thursday morning. Buyers have to buy at least 250 grams of hilsa. Many are disappointed by this.

A common buyer named Abul Hossain complains that currently the size of hilsa fish being cut for sale as pieces is between Tk 700-800 per kg. But immediately after cutting, the price of 250 grams of that fish is asking 400 taka. As such, the price of cut hilsa fish is more than double that of whole fish. So what is the benefit? On average, you have to buy at a higher price. So how many can buy this fish?

Another buyer named Salim Sheikh complained that although the initiative is good, the decision was taken hastily without coordinating with the fish traders. Because of this, many people came to this market on Thursday morning after hearing the announcement to buy cheap cut fish. But none of them got cut fish. Because no one was selling hilsa fish at that time. After opening at around 11 o'clock, one or two people started selling. But the price is more than doubling. After that it cannot be taken below 250 grams. So what happened? On average, the traders made a profit. On the other hand, poor people returned empty-handed!

Meanwhile, in view of such complaints, the statement of fish seller Abdur Rahim said that if a whole hilsa fish and chopped fish have to be sold at the same price, then they will not make a profit. And even if they take less than 250 grams of fish, they lose. So they are charging a little more for the cut hilsa. And the weight of cut hilsa has been fixed as minimum 250 grams. It is true that the price is a little higher, but if you want to buy a little bit of fish, he thinks that this is the profit of the buyer.

When asked, General Secretary of Rajshahi Business Coordination Council Sekender Ali said, this is a problem. But if you sell one piece of fish after cutting, the head remains unsold. Because of this, the sellers are not agreeing to sell a piece of fish. So they said that the head should be cut short and if someone takes a piece, he should be given a smaller piece of the head. Then the head will be sold and the buyers will be happy. Their intentions are honest. They want everyone to taste hilsa. And that's why this small effort.
