Seeing them, the price of various raw products reduced by 15 to 50 rupees. But after the observation team left the market, the traders again started selling the products at higher prices.

Today Thursday around 11 o'clock the market was visited under the leadership of Sultana Akhtar, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. Magfur Rahman, Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate and other officials were present at this time.

During the inspection of the market, it can be seen that beef is being sold at Tk 750 per kg, beef meat at Tk 1000, broiler chicken at Tk 200, golden chicken at Tk 280, eggs at Tk 160 per dozen, potatoes at Tk 55 per kg. Raw chillies at Tk 280, desi Onion is being sold at Tk 115 and Indian onion at Tk 110 per kg.

Soon after the officials left the market, the price of beef increased to Tk 780, broiler chicken Tk 220, golden chicken Tk 300, potatoes Tk 60, local onion Tk 120, green chilli Tk 300 to Tk 320 per kg.

Trader Zainal Abedin said that he was forced to comply with the ministry's price list during the inspection to avoid fines , "We have been warned to comply with the prices set by the ministry." But selling at this price means we can only cover our costs.'

He also said, 'wholesale syndicate must be broken first. If not, retailers like us will face difficulties in such inspection.'
