A group of students beat the shoes of Shakib Al Hasan, the country's best all-rounder, in the premises of the Sher Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. At the same time they painted anti-Shakib graffiti in the stadium area.

The angry students said on Thursday night that they will not allow Shakib to play in Mirpur Stadium. Their statement, 'In Mirpur where my brothers were killed, Shakib, the friend of autocracy, cannot play in Mirpur.'

Chittagong University student Al Mashnun, one of the organizers of this initiative, said, 'If Shakib is to play on Mirpur's ground, he will have to walk over my dead body.'

It is known that Sadman Saqib Adeeb, a student of Dhaka University, Syed Muaz, a student of Jahangirnagar University, Pratyaya, a student of North South, were present in the graffiti work. Pius of the People Activist Coalition and Habibur Rahman, one of the well-known faces of Mirpur's student movement, were also present there to support the aggrieved students.

Meanwhile, Srabanya Tawhida, the popular presenter, model and actress of the country, does not see such a position of students against Shakib at all.

In a Facebook status on Saturday, referring to the incident of shoe crushing in Shakib's picture, he said, 'When I see such people in Bangladesh, I feel very sad.'

This presenter also writes, 'I used to ask them, do you have so much intelligence? Has he (Shakib) done nothing for cricket in the country?'
