This time, conditionally 2 thousand 420 metric tons of hilsa were approved for export, but only 533 metric tons were sent to Benapole. Accordingly, only 22 percent of the hilsa export orders given by the government went to India.

According to the government directive, October 12 was the last day to export fish. Accordingly, 533 tons of hilsa was exported to India through Benapole Petrapole land port in 16 days from September 26 to October 12. The export value of which is 53 lakh 30 thousand US dollars said the customs officials.


This time, many could not export hilsa due to lack of time, hilsa crisis in the market and abnormal price increase. Hilsa exports to India have been stopped since midnight on Saturday (October 12).

Confirming the matter, Benapole Fisheries Officer Mahbubur Rahman said that so far seven C&F companies, Neela International Agency, Bangladesh Logistics Services, Goni & Sons, Emi Enterprise, Rahat Trade International, Brothers Exim, MM Cargo Services, have used Benapole Petrapol land port on behalf of 20 exporters. Hilsa fish has been exported.


Benapole Fish Quarantine Inspector Aswadul Alam said that the export price of hilsa per kg is 10 US dollars.


Earlier, on September 21, the Ministry of Commerce in a notification allowed the government to export 3000 tons of hilsa. However, after withdrawing from there, the export of 2 thousand 420 tons of hilsa was finally allowed.

The notification allowed 49 companies to export hilsa. 48 exporting companies have received a maximum of 50 tons and one company Lokaj Fashion has received conditional permission to export 20 tons of hilsa. Most of the hilsa is exported to India through Benapole land port.

 


The letter of approval states that if the government imposes any restrictions on the harvesting and transportation of fish, the export permit will expire as soon as it takes effect. It is said in the approval condition that the government can stop this export order at any time if it deems necessary.
