A visit to Healy market found that every shop in the market has ample supply of imported and indigenous onions. Two days ago, the price of onion imported from India was 85-90 rupees per kg, now it is being sold at 100 rupees. The price of domestic onion has increased by Tk 10 per kg and is being sold at Tk 120, which was earlier Tk 110 per kg.

Abul Hasnat, an onion seller in Hilli Bazaar , said, 'The price of domestic onion has also gone up due to the news of stoppage of onion import from India. Earlier, the price of onion per maund was Tk 4 thousand, currently it is being sold at Tk 4 thousand 100 to Tk 4 thousand 200. We are selling it at Tk 120 per kg including transportation and other expenses.


Helal Uddin, an onion trader at Heli land port, said, 'The price was higher due to disruption of onion production in India due to rain. At present, it has increased due to reduced imports.
