Jumbangla Desk: Meet on social media Facebook, then relationship for about three years. Simon Islam Al-Amin (23) got married about five months ago. The bride lived in her father's house. Simon has already got a new job. This time he was preparing to take home the new wife. Before his death, he called his wife and told her that he had rented a new house. Soon after giving such beautiful dreams and happy news, sad news came.

Wife Shamima Akhter (19) could not believe this news was real or a nightmare. Shamima's dreams were shattered with just one shot.

Simon Islam Al-Amin was martyred in the clash between the quota reforming students and the police in Savar Radio Colony area on July 19th.

Daulatpur Madhyapara of Lakshmipur Union of Barura Upazila of Comilla. Simon Islam Al-Amin (23) is the mezzo son of Babul and Manwara Begum.

He lived with his family in a rented house in Nayabari area of Savar's Radio Colony. His father works in a company in Gazipur.

Martyr Simon's body was buried on July 20 at Daulatpur Dakshinpara of Lakshmipur Union in Barura Upazila of Comilla.

The slain Simon was one of three siblings. Elder brother md. Mohsin Mia (26) expatriate of Qatar. Younger brother Zaheer Mia (18) works in a local workshop. Elder sister Mahmuda Akhtar (27) is married.

Shamim Akhter, the wife of the deceased Simon said, I used to live in Sabuj Bagh area of Dhaka with my family. And Simon lived in Radio Colony. After we got married I used to stay at their house as they didn't have accommodation. Later, it was said between the two families that they would take me to a new home. Shortly before Simon died, he called me to tell me he was getting a new home. Later I also went with him and said that I will come and see that house. After some time, I got news that he was shot during the anti-discrimination student movement. He later died in hospital. I couldn't believe that two such news would come to my mobile phone within a few hours.

Al-Amin's uncle Harunur Rashid said, "My sister-in-law could not get any vehicle to bring her child's body." No ambulance was found all night on Friday. Then called and told me about it. Later I took an ambulance from Comilla on Saturday morning and came to Comilla with the body from Dhaka. While bringing this body, I have been subjected to difficult obstacles and situations which I have no words to describe.

Martyr Simon Islam Al Amin's mother Manowara Begum said, "My son came out of the house to offer Friday prayers." The news came to me that the boy was shot and lying on the street and no one was going to catch him. After some time he received a call from the hospital. I ran to the hospital and found my son dead. Due to lack of money, the boy passed HSC and could not continue his studies. Mas got a new job. Married last 5 months ago. Couldn't even pick up his wife. They killed my son before that. The boy will take care of the family by working. The dream of bringing home a new wife is no longer fulfilled.

Babul Mia, the father of the deceased Al Amin, said, "My son took a job in a private company to support the family a few days before he died." Last July 19 (Friday) Al-Amin was shot in the back and exited above the navel during a police clash with the quota reform activists at Savar's Radio Colony. From there some boys rescued him and took him to Savar Super Hospital. He was not admitted to that hospital. Later, when I was being taken to Enam Medical College Hospital, the BCL leaders and activists chased me, and the rescuers ran away leaving my injured son. Later again we went and changed the route to Enam Medical College Hospital. The doctor declared him dead after keeping him in the ICU for a while.

He said that he received information about my son from the upazila administration. Locally Barura Upazila Youth Dal gave me 15 thousand taka. Besides, I did not get any government or private support.

Local residents Abdul Jabbar, Matin Mia and many others said that Babul Mia is an employee of a fan company. Very poor and poor family. He sent the eldest son abroad with a lot of debt. As his condition is not good, he has not yet been able to repay the loan. Mej's son was killed in this. He urged everyone to come forward along with the government to help the helpless family.

Barura Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nu-Emong Marma Mong told BASS, "We have inquired about the family of the deceased." The family of the deceased Simon Islam Al-Amin lives in Dhaka. We have sent them the list. If there is any cooperation we will arrange for them.
