They also threatened to tie up our trawler and take it to Indian waters and hand it over to the police of that country. 10 days ago they cut our net of 1.5 lakh rupees. We have to live helpless in the sea due to their oppression.

Indian fishermen have been catching hilsa near the Sundarbans and Kuakata in the Bay of Bengal, southwest of the Bangladesh border, said FB Ma Trawler Jihad. He said that currently there is a huge demand for hilsa in India. Even though there is a ban in our country now, they don't have any ban anymore. On this occasion, they come to the south of Patharghata, about 70 km away, but they are hunting hilsa.

Several fishermen said that there is no patrol in the deep sea. They claim that if the sea patrol is strengthened, just as Indian fishermen cannot come to our waters, our fishermen will also be able to hunt fish with courage.

Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, President of Barguna District Fishery Trawler Owners Association, said that our fishermen have completely complied with this 22-day ban to protect Hilsa. However, the violence of Indian fishermen in the sea of ​​Bangladesh is not new. Every year during the hilsa season they become aggressive. Our fishermen are beaten, nets, fish and other supplies are taken away.

He also said that the Indian has already occupied the points in the sea where the migration of hilsa is high. Our demand is that ban periods should be given simultaneously in India and Bangladesh.
