Jumbangla Desk: 22-day fishing ban is going on in Bangladesh. In this opportunity, Indian fishermen are roaming in the waters of Bangladesh in the deep sea. At the end of the season, they have taken over the large areas of silver hilsa migration. This is what the fishermen who returned from the deep sea said.

On Monday (October 14) morning, they returned to Patharghata Matsya Ghat in Barguna, the second largest fish landing center in the country, and made this complaint.

Fishermen complain that Indian fishermen are treating them like bandits in the sea. Bangladeshi fishermen are evacuating by announcing with hand mic. As it is the water border of their own country, if anyone does not want to move, they are throwing bricks and ropes. Apart from cutting the nets, efforts are also being made to sink small Bangladeshi trawlers by pushing through powerful trawlers.

Abdullah, resident of Patharghata and fisherman of FB Russell fishing trawler, said, Indian fishermen came next to our trawler and threw their nets. When their net falls on our net, they cut our net and pull the net and catch the fish. If we obstruct it, we will be attacked. They also threatened to tie up our trawler and take it to Indian waters and hand it over to the police of that country. 10 days ago they cut our net of 1.5 lakh rupees. We have to live helpless in the sea due to their oppression.

Indian fishermen have been catching hilsa near the Sundarbans and Kuakata in the Bay of Bengal, southwest of the Bangladesh border, said FB Ma Trawler Jihad. He said that currently there is a huge demand for hilsa in India. Even though there is a ban in our country now, they don't have any ban anymore. On this occasion, they come to the south of Patharghata, about 70 km away, but they are hunting hilsa.

Several fishermen said that there is no patrol in the deep sea. They claim that if the sea patrol is strengthened, just as Indian fishermen cannot come to our waters, our fishermen will also be able to hunt fish with courage.

Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, President of Barguna District Fishery Trawler Owners Association, said that our fishermen have completely complied with this 22-day ban to protect Hilsa. However, the violence of Indian fishermen in the sea of Bangladesh is not new. Every year during the hilsa season they become aggressive. Our fishermen are beaten, nets, fish and other supplies are taken away.

He also said that the Indian has already occupied the points in the sea where the migration of hilsa is high. Our demand is that ban periods should be given simultaneously in India and Bangladesh.

Barguna District Fisheries Officer. Mohsin said, I have come to know about the Indian fishermen's intrusion into Bangladesh's waters in the deep sea and hilsa extraction through various channels. I have not received the official complaint yet.

In this regard, an official of the Navy said that although there has been no problem of pirates in the sea for a few years, Bangladeshis are afraid of Indian fishermen. Taking advantage of powerful and advanced technology, they push the small trawlers in Bangladesh, where the net leaves are deliberately cut by the trawlers over them. When the expedition went, news spread quickly and they fled to Indian waters. It has become difficult to cope with them.

South Station Coast Guard Bhola Zone Officer Lt. Commander Mohammad Haroon-or-Rashid confirmed that there are incidents of Indian fishermen infiltrating the country's waters. But in the coming days we will be stricter and strengthen the patrolling. We don't want to take any more complaints of Indian fishermen intruding. For this reason, extra powerful trawlers and speed boats have already been prepared for special patrols along with deep sea ships and operations are ongoing.
