The director general of consumer said this after a meeting with egg producers and suppliers on Tuesday (October 15) afternoon.
He said, from Wednesday, 10 taka 91 paisa at producer level, 11 taka 1 paisa in wholesale. It has been decided to sell eggs at retail at 11 taka 87 paise. At the consumer level, it will cost 142 taka 44 paisa to buy each dozen.
Meanwhile, Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, an organization under the Ministry of Commerce, is conducting regular operations in the market to implement the fixed price of eggs. Because of that, the traders of Tejgaon have stopped selling eggs.
The price of eggs has not decreased much during the campaign, but the traders have stopped or reduced the sale of eggs in some wholesale markets. This has created a shortage in supply.
In some markets of the capital, it is known that red and white eggs of farm chickens are being sold for 12 taka 30 to 40 paise.
