Jumbangla Desk: Advocate Omar Farooq Farooqui has been appointed as Public Prosecutor of Dhaka Metropolitan and Sessions Judge Court. Besides, a total of 669 lawyers have been appointed as PP, GP, APP and AGP in Dhaka District and Sessions Court, CMM Court and various tribunals.

On Monday, Deputy Solicitor Sana of the Solicitor Division of the Ministry of Law. The appointment was made through a circular signed by Mahruf Hossain.

It is said that this appointment has been made under the powers given in Section 492 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Rule 17 of Section 9 and Section 6 of Section 1 of Chapter 2 of the 1960 LR (Legal Remembrancers) Manual subject to the report of the District and Sessions Judge and District Magistrate of Dhaka District.

The notification also said that through this appointment, the appointment of those who were previously appointed in these positions has been cancelled. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, judicial proceedings stalled due to the absence of lawyers for the state in the Dhaka judicial court. In this situation, the interim government appointed 669 lawyers to the state.
