Pediatric surgeon Professor Dr. has been appointed as the new Director General (Acting) of the Department of Health. Md. Abu Jafar.

Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Health on Tuesday. This was informed in a notification signed by Abu Raihan Dolan.

Also mentioned in the announcement former Director General Professor Dr. Mohammad Robed Amin has been transferred to Par-1 Branch for posting to suitable post.

The order issued in the public interest will be effective immediately, the notification said.

Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar is Professor and Head of Department of Pediatric Surgery at Salimullah Medical College (SSMC).

On November 13, 2013, he was promoted to the rank of professor, but he was denied further promotion to principal grade-2 and DG grade-1 due to discrimination.
