Jumbangla Desk: The court has ordered a ban on the emigration of Saifuzzaman Shikhar and his wife Seema Rahman, former Awami League MP from Magura-1 Constituency.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Mohammad Ash-Shams Jaglul Hossain gave this order in view of ACC's application on Tuesday (October 15).

A team headed by ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Ismail is conducting the investigation into the corruption allegations against Saifuzzaman Shikhar.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir appealed to the court on behalf of ACC.

According to the petition, the Shikhar couple earned huge amount of money through illegal means and abuse of power. Apart from that, at present there are allegations against this couple of abuse of power, irregularities, embezzlement of hundreds of crores of rupees through corruption and investigation is going on against the members of this family.

The petition also said there was credible information that the Shikhar couple might try to flee the country. So travel bans are needed to prevent them from going abroad.

After the order, the judge sent a copy of the order to the Special SP (Immigration) of the Special Branch of Police to take further action, court sources confirmed.
