Eight national days including March 7 and August 15 were cancelled, orders issued

The order was issued today (October 16).

This order was issued by the Cabinet after the decision of the Advisory Council of the Interim Government.

An office order has been sent to the Principal Adviser, Chief Secretary, Secretaries/Senior Secretaries of all Ministries and Departments, Chief Information Officer, Divisional Commissioner, District Commissioner (DC), Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) for proper implementation of the decision.


Of the eight days canceled, five are related to the birth and death of Sheikh Hasina's family members. Among them, March 17 is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birthday and National Children's Day, August 5 is Sheikh Hasina's brother Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal's birth anniversary, August 8 is Sheikh Hasina's mother Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib's birth anniversary, August 15 is Bangabandhu's death anniversary and National Mourning Day, and October 18 is Sheikh Hasina's National Mourning Day. Little Brother Sheikh Russell Day.

Apart from this, the list of cancellations includes historical March 7, National Constitution Day on November 4, Smart Bangladesh Day on December 12.

Regarding National Day of Mourning on August 15, the order said- the decision to celebrate/not observe the day was taken subject to the final order of the High Court.
