Jumbangla Desk: Duke Mia (35), the organizing secretary of Palashbari Upazila Tanti League of Gaibandha, has been arrested by his ear to leave politics. He said that he will never do politics at this time.

The incident took place in the Eidgah field of the Mahdipur union of the upazila.

A video of Duke being held by the ear has gone viral on social media since Wednesday (October 16) morning.

Duke Mia is the son of deceased Dudu Mia of village Purba Gopalpur (Miyapara) of Mahdipur Union of Palashbari Upazila.

In the 42-second video that went viral, Duke can be seen holding Mia by the ear. The voices of some youths can be heard in the video. At the start of the video, Duke is seen sitting down. Later the youth asked the duke to stand. He is then asked to sit facing west and holding his ears.

At this time, the youth can be heard saying, will you (Duke) ever do Awami League? You betrayed many people.

Duke replied, "No brother, I have not betrayed anyone, but I will never do politics again." The video also shows one of the youths kicking Duke multiple times from behind.

Upazila Tanti League president Aktaruzzaman Titu confirmed Duke's party identity this evening and said, 'Duke was returning home from Gaibandha at noon on Tuesday (October 15) morning after appearing in a pending case. On the way, Duke was taken hostage by a group of BNP youths from Dholbhanga market. At around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Deek was taken to the Eidgah ground of the shophouse and forced to sit by his ear with severe beating. '
