Jumbangla Desk: The case filed in Jessore against BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman for insulting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been withdrawn. On Wednesday (October 16), Senior Judicial Magistrate Golam Kibria ordered the dismissal of the case after hearing the application of the vice-president of Jessore District Awami League, Bir Muktijodha AKM Khairat Hossain. The matter was confirmed by the plaintiff's lawyer Mahabub Hossain Sarkar Laltu.
Accusations of harassment
According to court sources, on December 22, 2014, AKM Khairat Hossain filed this case in court. Two more cases were filed in this incident at that time by Shahjahan Kabir, a brave freedom fighter of Chougacha, and Shahjahan Ali, deputy commander of Jhikargacha Upazila Freedom Fighters Sangsad.
According to the complaint of the case, brave freedom fighter Khairat Hossain believed in the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and did politics of Awami League. He learned from the news published in Daily Janakantha newspaper that on December 15, in a BNP meeting in London, Tarek Zia had given a speech by commenting that Bangabandhu was a big Razakar and Pakbandhu and Awami League was a party of hypocrites. As a freedom fighter, Tariq Rahman has been defamed in this statement. In this incident, the brave freedom fighter Khairat Hossain filed this case in the court on December 22, 2014 on charges of defamation. The then judge of the court ordered the OC of Kotwali police station to investigate the allegations and submit a report.
After receiving the report, the judge ordered to issue summons to Tariq Rahman. On the next date, an arrest warrant was issued in Tariq Rahman's absence. The case was currently scheduled for hearing after the framing of charges.

But the plaintiff in the case, brave freedom fighter Khairat Hossain, applied to withdraw the case on Wednesday. He mentioned that currently he is living peacefully. As a result, he is no longer willing to pursue this case. The judge granted the application at the end of the hearing.
