Jumbangla Desk: Senior politician and Awami League presidium member Matia Chowdhury has been buried in the grave of her husband Bazlur Rahman at the martyr intellectuals' cemetery in Mirpur of the capital.
His family sought a new site in the intellectual cemetery, but ultimately it was not granted. He was buried in the grave of Matia Chowdhury's husband Bazlur Rahman.
Matia Chowdhury's brother Masudur Rahman said, 'We asked the North City Corporation for a plot for the grave.
But the City Corporation has informed that plots cannot be allotted without permission from the office of the Chief Advisor. We waited till this morning and did not get permission. She was later buried in her husband's grave.'
After the second funeral at Azad Mosque in Bad Johar Gulshan today, his body was taken to the intellectual cemetery.
