Ever since the release of the film's promotion, the debate on 'Emergency' has started. The release of the film, directed by Kangana Ranaut, has faced several legal complications, which have finally reached the court. However, Kangana recently announced that the Censor Board has cleared their film.

On Thursday, Kangana said in a story on Instagram, 'We have received clearance from the Censor Board for 'Emergency'. I will announce the release date of the film very soon. Thank you for your patience and support.'
Kangana will be seen in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in this film. He also wrote the screenplay. Shiromani Akali Dal alleged that Kangana's film hurt Sikh sentiments. Even, the actress has received threats for this film. The film directed by Kangana was supposed to release on September 6. But the court gave a moratorium on the release of the film.
After this, a long dispute between the producers and the Censor Board took place in the court. Kangana complained that the Censor Board is not giving clearance to her film unnecessarily. Earlier, the court directed the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) to take a decision on the film's clearance by September 25. On the contrary, lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud told the court on behalf of the Censor Board that the film can be cleared. However, in that case some scenes have to be scissored.
Now, it is not clear whether the Censor Board has cleared the film to release intact, or the makers have had to change some scenes. However, Kangana's fans are happy to know that the film will be released.
