Two construction workers tragically died due to poisoning after falling into a septic tank under construction in Savar, Dhaka. On Friday morning, Lal Mia, a resident of Dakshin Meitka village of Hemayetpur, died after falling into the septic tank under construction.

The deceased are masons Anisul Haque (40) and Sadiqul Islam (39) of South Meitka village of Jhauchar in Savar's Hemayetpur.

According to eyewitnesses, a construction worker came down to work inside the septic tank under construction of expatriate Lal Mia this morning. After a long time passed, not getting any response from him, another worker also went down to the septic tank to look for him. After getting no response from both of them, the locals informed the fire service. Later, fire service personnel reached the spot and rescued the two construction workers unconscious from inside the septic tank. Later, when they were taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared both dead.

Savar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Mia said that two dead bodies were recovered from the septic tank. Further legal action is pending.
