One person was killed and one injured in a cylinder explosion at a CNG filling station in Dhaka's Dhamrai. The accident took place at a refueling station named 'N&N CNG' in Dhamrail Dhulivita area of Dhaka-Aricha highway on Friday (October 18).

The deceased's name is Farooq Hossain (50). He is the son of Abdus Salam of Srirampur Dakshinpara village of Dhamrai police station.
The seriously injured CNG autorickshaw driver was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. His identity is unknown. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhamrai police station Monirul Islam confirmed the matter.
Eyewitnesses said that while refueling CNG gas in a microbus, the cylinder suddenly exploded with a loud noise. Farooq Hossain, the owner and driver of the microbus, died on the spot. The microbus crashed. At that time, the unidentified driver was seriously injured while refueling another CNG autorickshaw that was standing next to him.
Dhamrail Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nasir Ahmed said, preliminary investigation suggests that the cylinder may have exploded due to a fault during the CNG conversion of the microbus. Legal action is underway in this regard.
