Two people were shot dead in a clash between two sides over the occupation of the Shia mosque raw market in the capital's Mohammadpur.

Mohammadpur Police Station OC Iftekhar Hasan said that the incident took place at Shia Mosque area around 8:30 pm on Thursday.

The injured are Abul Hossain and his brother Mahbub Hossain.

They have been admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

OC Iftekhar Hasan said about the locals that Abul Hossain Shia Mosque was in charge of the raw market committee president. In the context of the change of government, another side conflict started with him over the market committee. This led to the shooting.

He said that efforts are being made to identify the attackers.
