Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has released a drone video of Yahya Sinwar's last moments. In the video, Sinwar is seen sitting on a sofa surrounded by rubble inside a destroyed house. At one point he is throwing an object at the drone.
Israel's Foreign Minister Kurtz said in a statement that IDF forces have eliminated Yahya Sinwar, the mass murderer responsible for the massacre and brutality of October 7 last year.
The Israeli military says it carried out a raid on a building in the Gaza city of Rafah on Wednesday. The building was believed to be used by senior Hamas leaders. Three people were killed in that raid, Sinwar being one of them.
Israeli forces also said that there were no signs of hostages at the site. Earlier it was claimed that Sinwar would keep the hostages with him during the trip for their safety.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said Israeli soldiers saw three gunmen running from one room to another. Once the shots were fired, they separated and Yahya Sinwar entered the building alone.
Hagari also said that the drone showed Sinwar sitting on a chair. Israeli soldiers entered the building and found the dead Hamas leader with a vest, gun and 40,000 shekels (8,200 pounds).
