Jumbangla Desk: Terrorists hacked and injured an expatriate in Narsingdi for not paying subscription. At that time, mobile phones and valuables including Tk 10 lakh in cash were looted from the expatriate. Cars used by expatriates were vandalized.

This incident took place in Charanchal Nazarpur village of Sadar upazila on Saturday (October 19). Later he was rescued and admitted to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital in the evening. Injured Haji Helal alias Saudi Helal (61) son of Jabbar Mia of Nazarpur. Apart from business in Saudi Arabia, he has several businesses including a cow farm at his village home. The victim's family filed a written complaint with the police.

Injured Haji Helal Mia, admitted to the hospital, said that the former UP Chairman of Nazarpur and his son had been demanding Tk 2 crore from me on the phone since several days ago. They will kill me if I don't pay. On Saturday, I and my son were on our way to Narsingdi from the village home on a motorcycle, Jalal Chairman's son and 15 to 20 supporters of the Chairman stopped my movement with pistols and weapons. At that time they asked me for subscription money. When I asked what the subscription was, they started beating me. At one stage they cut and injured Elopatari with sharp weapons. Later the locals rescued me and brought me to Sadar Hospital.

Helal's son Anwarul said, "My father has been living abroad for about 30 to 35 years. He recently came home on vacation. Meanwhile, the former chairman and his son asked my father for a contribution of 2 crore rupees. They threatened to kill us if we did not pay the subscription. They attacked us. Cut and injured my father. I want justice for this incident.

Jalal Uddin, the former chairman of Nazarpur Union, denied the charges of demand for subscription and said, I was not in the village at the time of the incident. And if my son can prove that someone is involved in this incident, appropriate justice will be done.

He also said that Helal has been trading Adam for a long time. Many people may have problems with him. Moreover, I heard that there was a quarrel with his brother in the village in the afternoon. Now I don't know whether this incident happened because of the quarrel with Bhair or because of the Adam business.
