Jumbangla Desk: Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Farooq-e-Azam said that the recent floods have caused a loss of Tk 14 thousand crores in the country.
He said this at the flood rehabilitation committee meeting at the ministry meeting room at the secretariat on Tuesday (October 22).
Adviser Farooq-e-Azam said that the total damage of Tk 14 thousand 269 crore 68 lakh 33 thousand 522 has been caused in recent floods. The number of affected people is 9 lakh 42 thousand 811 people.
Farooq-e-Azam said that the damage has been assessed based on the information received from various ministries, and the rehabilitation program of the flood victims has already started. Central committee, district and upazila committee have also been formed for this. The committee members will oversee the entire rehabilitation program.
The government has already distributed Tk 7 crore 34 lakh in cash, 38 thousand 900 metric tons of rice, 38 thousand 500 packets of dry and other food, 2 thousand 315 bundles of cotton, Tk 69 lakh 45 thousand for domestic labor, Tk 1 crore 80 lakh for child food in 19 flood affected districts. Taka, 1 Crore 80 Lakhs have been allocated for cattle fodder. In addition, 163 microcredit institutions of the country have distributed 85 crore 30 lakh 24 thousand 208 taka for the help and cooperation of flood affected people.

Adviser Farooq-e-Azam said that this year in the country, due to the loss of crops in the flood this year, it has affected the commodity market. The seeds are distributed among the farmers with the aim that the farmers can produce vegetables and other crops in a short period of time.
At this time, the secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief along with senior officials of the relevant ministries and representatives of NGOs were present.
