It has been alleged that Abdur Raqib Montu, who is in prison for a long time in the case of his own murder, has taken over the land of his uncle and built a 'torture cell' there.

7 such houses of about 7 feet length and 8 feet width without windows were found in Panishail (Nizgaon) area of ​​Uttarbhag Union of Rajnagar Upazila. Locals claim that before the fall of the Awami League government, Montu used to bring people in a black car late at night. He used to leave in the early morning.

Going to Panishail (Nizgaon) area of ​​Uttarbhag Union, Abdur Rakib Montu, a resident of Nizampur village in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet, has developed a garden of different species of forest trees in his own and occupied property in Panishail (Nijgaon) village of Rajnagar. There is 2 acres 7 percent of their own land, but they are occupying the land of others and enjoying a total of 2 acres 47 percent.

It is alleged that during his tenure as Assistant Attorney General, he gave one case after another to the caretaker to take away all the adjacent land including the homestead, against his uncle, Nurul Islam Kala Mia (83), the owner of the adjacent land and his family members; But he couldn't take it because he didn't get the court's instructions.

Miscreants killed Abdul Malek, the caretaker of Abdur Rakib Montu's property, near Nijgaon Community Clinic in the dark of night on 17 November 2021. Later that night, the police went and arrested Nurul Islam Kala Mia and all her family members from the residence. Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu filed a murder case against the family at Rajnagar Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. Rajshahi University student Azizur Rahman, grandson of Kala Mia, was also arrested in the same case. Montu took possession of all the lands of Kala Mia's family, including her residence, while all of her family were in prison.

Later, he built a boundary wall in front of his land along with Kala Mia's residence. He named the house 'Bashir-Rabeya Cottage'. Inside the boundary wall, he built 7 separate houses made of semi-finished tin. About 7 feet long and 8 feet wide, these mysterious rooms have no windows. Locals said that they have never seen these houses open during the day. However, late at night, Abdur Rakib Montu used to come here in a black car with his people and leave at dawn. He was so feared by the locals that they did not dare to go inside the walls.

Nannu Mia of Panishail village said, We have been seeing Kala Mia living in this house since childhood. While Kala Mia and her family members were in jail for a murder case in our area, Montu Mia took over her house and land and built 7 more small houses without windows. Montu and his people used to come to these rooms at night. Villagers did not come here for fear of Montu. I think Awami League's 'torture cell' was used like a mirror.

After nearly two and a half years, in June this year, Kala Mia and her family members got out on bail from the murder case and found that Montu had taken over 40 percent of the land including the house. The big trees left by them have been cut down. Kala Mia built a garden and a house on the land. Montu also included his land inside the boundary wall.

Manik Mia of that village said that Kala Mia married her daughters from her own house. They got grandchildren in their house. He has land deeds and papers. Yet he is barred from staying in the house. Advocate Montu has been harassing the family with false cases for a long time.

Nurul Islam Kala Mia said, I have been living in this house for 70 years. My sister and sister's sons have sold these lands to me for permanent residence. Even though I have all the documents, Montu has repeatedly harassed me by suing me to take away this land. Later, finding no other option, he himself killed his caretaker and filed a murder case against my entire family. I spent almost two and a half years in jail. My marriageable college going daughter was not left out of the case either. He did not leave the grandson who is studying in the university. Now I am on bail and cannot enter my house. Kala Mia broke down in tears as she was still being harassed by the police.

Azizur Rahman, the grandson of former student of Rajshahi University, Kala Mia, said, "Because of my absence, Vishwadiyalaya canceled my studentship because I was in jail for a long time in the Montur case." My younger aunt who was studying in HSC was also taken to jail. One of my uncles who is abroad has also been accused. This montu has destroyed the whole family. The 83-year-old man has been staying on rent elsewhere for 3 months. Now with the help of the villagers we got home; But the police barred Nana from entering the house.

In this regard, the officer in charge of Rajnagar police station (OC) Shah Md. Mubaswir said, from our side, the old man's family will not be prevented from staying at home. Two cases are ongoing in the court between the two parties regarding the land. One complained about entering the old man's room. We have said that we cannot do anything without the direction of the court in this regard.

When asked about torture cell, he said, I have heard about it. We will investigate this matter in depth.
