The incident took place on Friday morning at the house of Haji Gunnumia Saudagar of Ward No. 6 West Haidchakiya.

Local UP member Mohin Uddin confirmed the fact of the incident and said that while opening the mouth of the bag in the rotting and melting hole of betel nut, two people first smelled gas and then three others were injured while rescuing them, another one was injured on top of the tank. We sent them to the hospital with the help of fire personnel. In this two sons of Tunu Saudagar named Shafi and Shahidul died.

Fatikchari fire officer Kamal Uddin said, after receiving information, we rescued some people from the scene and sent them to the hospital. Before our arrival, five people, including a woman, were rescued by the locals and sent to the hospital.


He also said that 7-8 feet below this pit, methane gas is produced with the smell of betel nut. As a result, this happens due to lack of oxygen.
