Lifestyle Desk: Just as it is not possible to be guided without good character, it is also not possible to invite others to be guided. For this reason, Almighty Allah has sent His Messenger to the world with the best character. In the Holy Qur'an, Almighty Allah says, 'And surely you are on a noble character.' (Surah: Qalam, Ayah: 4) There are several views on determining the meaning of 'noble character' mentioned in the verse.

Ibn Abbas (R.A.) said, great character means great character. Because there is no religion more dear to Allah Ta'ala than Islam. Ayesha (R.A.) said, the Qur'an itself is the 'noble character' of Rasulullah (S.A.W.). That is, he is a real example of the good deeds and character that the Holy Qur'an teaches.
Ali (R.A.) said, 'noble character' refers to the manners of the Qur'an; That is, the manners which the Qur'an has taught. (Qurtubi)
Apart from that, good character makes people beloved by Allah. The more beautiful his character is, the more beloved he is to Allah. The Prophet (PBUH) said, the most beloved people to Allah are those who possess good character. (James Sagir, Hadith: 218)
By attaining excellence of character, man can attain special status in the sight of Almighty Allah. Allah Almighty loves them so much that He gives them the status equal to those who fast during the day and stay awake at night. Ayesha (RA) said, I heard Rasulullah (SAW) say, Surely a believer can attain the same status as a (daytime) faster and (night) Tahajjudguzari through his good character. (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 4798)
Subhanallah! What a great find this is for a believer. In many other hadiths, many more special statuses are declared for those who acquire good character. Rasul (pbuh) himself called the people of good character as the best people.
The eminent Tabee Masrook (R.A.) said, Once we were sitting near Abdullah Ibn Amr (R.A.). He was narrating hadith to us. He said, Rasool (PBUH) was not indecent by nature and he did not intentionally speak indecent words. He used to say, whoever among you has the best character is the best among you. (Bukhari, Hadith: 6035)
