It is known that Shakib's bowling action was questioned in a match of Division One of the County Championship. Shakib played that match in this tournament last September.

Surrey did not have 8 cricketers to play for England. So Shakib played for Surrey for 1 match. It was Shakib's first match in the county since the 2011–12 season.

Shakib took 9 wickets in that match. However, Surrey lost the match by 111 runs.

Shakib bowled 63 overs in that match. The umpires did not call any 'no ball' for the illegal action. However, after about two months, it was learned that the two umpires of that match expressed doubts about Shakib's bowling action at that time.

For now, Shakib has not been banned from the game or given any punishment. According to ESPN Cricinfo, talks are underway with Shakib about testing the bowling action.

Shakib is expected to test the bowling action in a few weeks.
