Economic census will be conducted across the country for 15 days from December 10 to 26. 95 thousand data collectors will collect data in this year's census. The organization conducts such a census every 10 years to know about the economic condition of the country.
Final preparations for the Economic Census 2024 project were highlighted on Thursday (November 7) to ensure successful implementation of the census. On this occasion, the workshop was organized in the conference room of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) at Agargaon in the capital. The details are presented there.
Deputy Project Director Mizanur Rahman said that 65 questions will come up in the economic census. This time the information of this census will be collected through capi method through the first tab. Already 1 crore 22 lakh units have been identified through listing. Detailed information will be collected from there. In this census, for the first time, the information about how many foreign workers are employed in the country, what type of organization they are working in, what type of position and how many men and women will be highlighted.
Mahbub Hossain, secretary of statistics and information management department, was the chief guest at the workshop under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Director General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Deputy Director General Mohammad Obaidul Islam and Project Director SM Shakeel Akhtar were special guests.

Statistics and Information Management Department Secretary Mahbub Hossain said that for the successful implementation of economic census, the coordinated role of all levels of BBS officials, university teachers, representatives of statistics bureau, members of various ministries and organizations and stakeholders is very important. In this, initiatives have been taken to conduct training and publicity activities to increase awareness about the importance of census and to assist in data collection. Which will be helpful for successful census implementation.
Project Director SM Shakeel Akhtar said, the direction of this workshop will make all the officials and employees associated with census more active in fulfilling their responsibilities.
He said that as a final preparation, training of departmental and district census coordinators, training of zonal officers at upazila and thana level and training of enumerators and round-the-clock monitoring have been taken. Apart from this, campaigns and other activities have also been completed to collect information through tabs in a modern manner.
In the President's speech, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that through Economic Census 2024, it will be possible to get accurate and updated information about the economic structure and trends of Bangladesh, which will play an important role in the overall development plan of the country.
He said that BBS officials have made proper preparations at every step. Publicity and training activities to further improve the data collection system of this year's economic census have been completed.
