The Criminal Investigation Department-CID has arrested a young man named Farhad Hossain 18 days after the body of a woman was recovered from a residential hotel in Chittagong. He was arrested from Khulshi police station area on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile on Thursday Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate. Farhad made a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code by admitting responsibility for the murder of Abu Bakr Siddique.

It has been mentioned in the deposition that the woman was strangled to death after an argument over money in the hotel room.

According to the CID, on October 19, Bibi Kulchum (34) and Farhad Hossain rented a room at the residential hotel Gulzar in Bahaddarhat area as husband and wife. The next day, at some point, Farhad, who introduced himself as her husband, ran away. Later, not getting any response in the room, the hotel people informed the police. The police recovered the body and sent it to Chamek Hospital morgue.

In this incident, Bibi Kulchum's father Abdul Chhattar filed a murder case against accused Farhad Hossain at Chandgaon police station. After learning about the incident, the CID started a shadow investigation. The CID's crime scene team identified the victim Bibi Kulchum.

Farhad was arrested on the basis of secret information on Wednesday night. When he was arrested in the murder case and sent to the court on Thursday, he admitted the responsibility of the murder and gave a confessional statement under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

CID Chittagong Special Superintendent of Police Shahnewaz Khaled told Jugantar that the killer Farhad has been arrested and sent to court in connection with the recovery of a woman's body from a residential hotel in Bahaddarhat area.
