Myanmar has returned 20 Bangladeshi fishermen and 15 boats seized by the Arakan Army, a rebel armed group. On Thursday afternoon, they returned to Bangladesh via Teknaf Shahpari's island Jetghat.

Later, BGB handed over 20 Bangladeshi nationals to their families through next of kin contact.
Teknaf Battalion-2 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Mohiuddin Ahmad confirmed this information in a press release.
Relatives of the victimized fishermen's families have expressed their thanks and gratitude for bringing back the fishermen detained by the BGB.
The returned fishermen are Shah Alam (28) son of Ali Ahmad of Teknaf Shahpari Island, Asmat Ullah (18) son of Shafi Ullah, Abdus Shukkur (32) son of Nurul Alam, Abul Hochan (45) son of deceased Naju Mia, Ayub son of Nazir Hochan. Belal (29), deceased Nur Amin's son Salim (35), deceased Zakaria's son Abdul Quader (25), deceased Sultan Ahmed's son Md. Hashim (35), Md. Alam's son. Hochen (28), Ilyach's son Mohi Uddin (26), Md. Yunuch's son Enayet Ullah (30), deceased Yunuch's son Nur Hafez (40), deceased Machan Ali's son Md. Yachin (35), Abdu Rahim (44) son of Amir Sadur, Hasan Ali (53) son of deceased Bacha Mia, Osman Gani (30) son of Abdu Sukkur, Innamin (27) son of Nashir Uddin of Maheshkhali Upazila and Abdu Sukkur son of Hashan Sharif of Ukhia Upazila. It is to be noted that a team of Myanmar Armed Arakan Army came and detained a total of 15 boats and 20 fishermen, including 2 motorized and 13 non-motorized wooden boats, on the charge of crossing the water boundary while fishing by placing vengizal on the Myanmar side from Naikhyongdia Point near the mouth of the Naf River on Tuesday afternoon.
