It has been alleged that a young woman was gang-raped while visiting Mahamaya Lake in Mirsarai Upazila. On Thursday, three young men gang-raped their lover on the mountain slope next to the lake of Mahamaya Ecopark in the upazila.

After this incident, the victim lodged a complaint with the Mirsarai police station in the night.

On Friday afternoon, a rapist was arrested by Mirsarai police station from Katachra area.

According to local sources, on Thursday afternoon from Sonagazi Upazila and Feni Sadar of Feni District, the loving couple came to visit Mahamaya. At that time, when they went to the depths of Mahamaya Lake, three young men followed them. Before this, the youths keep videos of their backs. At one stage they raped the young woman by holding her boyfriend. Later when the couple reported the matter to the Mahamaya Lake ticket counter, they informed the police. The police went and rescued them and brought them to the police station.

Meanwhile, the police started the operation since Friday morning. Finally, Riaz Uddin arrested a rapist.

Abdul Quader, OC of Mirsarai police station, said that a person involved in rape has been arrested in Mahamaya Lake. The motorcycle used by those involved in the incident has been seized. A person named Riyaz was arrested after identifying the gang. The operation is also on to nab other criminals.
