91 thousand tons of rice will come from India

Since then the importers of Hili land port have started making preparations. Already, 13 importers of the port have received permission to import about 91 thousand tons of rice from the Ministry of Food.

It is known that the traders will import these rice after getting the import permit. The rice imported from India may come to the market next week.

This was confirmed on Friday afternoon by Yusuf Ali, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer of Hili Land Port.


In this direction, the local market of Hili land port can be seen, now the price of local rice is quite high. The price of all types of rice has increased by two to three rupees per kg. On Friday, eighty-eight varieties of rice were being sold at the rate of Tk 58 per kg, which was Tk 56, in the Heli market. On the other hand, Sampa Katari rice has increased by 3 taka per kg and rice of 65 taka per kg is being sold at 68 taka. Apart from this, Swarna-5 variety rice is being sold at Tk 48 per kg, Jirashail at Tk 66 per kg. Traders believe that there will be some impact on the price when the import starts.

An importer at Hili land port said that after the government gave permission to import rice, traders have started making preparations to import. However, the time limit for importing rice is very short. Because it has to be marketed by December 12. Apart from this, some more instructions have been given this time. Rice should be sold in the market in the same packet in which rice is imported and daily import, sale and stock information should be submitted to the local food office.

Yusuf Ali, deputy assistant plant pest control officer of Hili land port, said that no one has received import permit for rice import yet. Importers can import rice after getting permit.
