He said that there will be documentation about the amount of money spent by some ministries in the name of Mujibvarsh, he said, 'A list will be made of how much money some ministries have wasted in what sectors in the name of Mujibvarsh.'
The press secretary said, 'where we are reaching out to the IMF for loans; Seeking a loan of 4.5 billion US dollars from the IMF; I wasted thousands of crores of rupees there in the name of Mujibvarsh, made some murals, made some statues. It is not just that the money has gone from the government treasury.'
Stating that this decision was made in the meeting of the advisory council, he said, "In many cases, private institutions have also been forced, as a result, some have done Mujib's corner, some have been forced to make Mujib's mural." There was a money-spending frenzy in front of Mujibism.'
Regarding the wastage of money, he said, 'We saw a report in a newspaper, but could not verify it. The newspaper says that 10,000 idols have been made at a cost of 4,000 crores just in the name of making murals.
Shafiqul Alam said in response to the question whether any decision will be taken about the bureaucrats who served in Mujib years , 'Let there be documentation first, then we will see what can be done. After documentation we can see how much wastage. These are taxpayers' money. How this money is spent, of course we will see.'
At this time, he also said, 'You must have seen that 117 crore rupees were spent on two murals on the Padma Bridge, can you imagine?'
