I have also served as a minister. Bangabandhu murder case and criminals against humanity were not handcuffed. So that I don't have to wear handcuffs.'

 

On Monday (November 11), Shajahan Khan was produced in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. At that time, the investigating officer of the case requested to arrest him in the case of murder of Jubo Dal leader Shamim. Shahjahan Khan said these things with the permission of the judge.

Public prosecutor (PP) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court, Omar Farooq Farooqui, who was opposing the state side, said, "We have seen earlier that many ministers and MPs were taken up the stairs to the seventh and eighth floors with handcuffs." They did it to stay in power. It is one thing if you are in power and another thing when you are out of power. Handcuffs and helmets are worn for safety. Then the judge arrested him in this case. The judge did not order handcuffs.

On 28 October 2023, BNP called a general meeting in Dhaka as part of its central programme. Awami League called a counter rally on the same day to protest the mass meeting. With the help of the police, the mass gathering was attacked to kill and disappear the BNP leaders and activists. Youth Dal leader Shamim was killed in the attack. In this incident, a case was filed on September 24, 2024 at Paltan police station in the capital.
