Kiwi's star pacer said goodbye to Tests

Playing 18 years in Tests for New Zealand is a matter of pride for Southie. Announcing his retirement, the pacer said, “I grew up with the dream of playing for New Zealand. It was a great honor for me to play for the Black Caps for 18 years after that."

He also said, “But now is the right time to step away from the game that has given me so much. Tests have a special place in my heart."


Southee made his Test debut against England in Napier in March 2008. This time he ends with the match against the English.

In this context, he said, "To be able to play against those against whom this long journey began, such a big series and three grounds that are incredibly special to me, is a fitting end to my career."
