Jumbangla Desk: In Chittagong City's Omargani MES College, despite the prohibition of student politics, when they tried to force a political program, the Chhatra Dal clashed with ordinary students. One student was shot and 8 to 10 people were injured.

The incident took place on Monday (18 November) when the Chhatra Dal banner was held on campus. The name of the injured student is Mamun. He is a HSC 2nd year student of the college. Mamun is currently under treatment at Chittagong Medical.

A classmate of the injured student, on condition of anonymity, said that student politics is prohibited in the college. However, Chhatra Dal is forcefully carrying out political programs. When ordinary students interfered, they shot. However, the leaders of the organization claimed that no one from Chhatra Dal was involved in the clash.

Some eyewitnesses said that student politics is completely prohibited in the campus. However, Chhatra Dal leaders started the event under the banner of Chhatra Dal without any permission. They alleged that when the ordinary students stopped going there, at one stage they even beat the ordinary students.

In this regard Omar Gani MES College Branch Convener of the Chhatra Dal. Tarek Aziz said, today a delegation from the Central Students' Party came. By the time we finished the programme, some named students were making noise among themselves. Administration people were there.

He also said that our college had no one except Chhatra League for the last 45 years. Bachchu of Chhatra League is doing politics with Wasim and now he wants to destabilize the college by dressing ordinary students. We won't let that happen.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Chittagong City Police Tarek Aziz said that the students stopped them when the Chhatra Dal members went to the college for organizational work along with the three central leaders. At that time, a fight took place between the two parties due to a quarrel. Two people were slightly injured in the fight. Later the police went and brought the situation under control. He also said that no party has complained to the police station in this incident.
