Jumbangla Desk: The court remanded former minister Kamrul Islam for 8 days in the case of murder of businessman Abdul Wadud in Newmarket area of the capital.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman gave this order on Tuesday (November 19). Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, Jahangir Arip, applied for a 10-day remand for the sake of a fair investigation.
The lawyer of the accused filed a bail application seeking cancellation of the remand. The State opposes the remand. After the hearing, the court granted 8 days remand.
Detective (DB) police arrested Kamrul from Uttara-12 sector of the capital on Monday (November 18) night.
According to the sources of the case, businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead by the police in Neelkhet area under Newmarket police station on the afternoon of July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement. In this incident, his brother-in-law Abdur Rahman filed a murder case against 130 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
