Jumbangla Desk: Sonali Bank Plc will provide scholarships for poor and talented, orphans and disabled students. The bank has published a notification for this purpose. According to the notification, students of poor meritorious, backward and remote areas such as Howar/Dwip/Char, farmers, day laborers, meritorious children of minority ethnic groups, orphans and disabled students can apply for Sonali Bank PLC scholarship online conditionally. The application which started from last Wednesday can be made till December 9.
Who can apply:
► Students who have passed SSC or equivalent examination in 2023 and are currently studying at HSC or equivalent level or who have passed HSC or equivalent examination in 2023 and are currently studying at graduation or equivalent level can apply.
► GPA-5 in SSC or equivalent examination for poor and meritorious quota students studying at HSC or equivalent level, GPA-4.50 for children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters and veterans, GPA-4.50 for minority ethnic group students and physically challenged and third gender students Must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the field.

► Only poor students / minority ethnic group students / physically challenged / orphans / destitute freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters and students whose monthly income of parents/guardians is not more than Rs 15 thousand (excluding freedom fighter allowance) can apply. Children of wealthy individuals need not apply.
Scholarship Amount:
► Scholarship amount is one time 10 thousand taka.
How to apply:
► Apply through Sonali Bank website. The list of preliminarily selected applicants will be published on the website of Sonali Bank Plc in due course.
Documents required for application:
► Online Application Form printed by the shortlisted applicant (with signature and sealed recommendation of Head of Institution/Head of Department),
► Certificate of Study issued by Principal/ Head of Department of currently studying Institution,
► Attested copy of Academic Transcript, Certificate and Citizenship Certificate,
► Birth Certificate/ Attested copy of NID,
► Student's parent's monthly from Union Parishad/Municipality/City Corporation Income certificate (parent's occupation and monthly income should be mentioned) and salary certificate from the concerned head of the office with reference to the title and salary scale of the employed parents,
► Freedom fighter certificate in case of children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters and veterans,
► Directorate of Social Services / District Social Services Office / Upazila Social Services in case of disabled persons. Attested copy of disability certificate issued by the office,
► Local in case of minority ethnic group students Certificate/Certificate by Public Representative and
► Appropriate Certificate/Certificate by Directorate of Social Services in case of third gender.
