Guests come to visit our house, after the visit they go back to their home address. Similarly, a small asteroid named '2024 PT5', 33 feet wide, has also come very close to our Earth since September 29. Not only that, the asteroid has been positioned as the second moon in the earth's sky for several weeks. Astronomers said that this new moon will return to its destination on November 25.

second moon

The moon was seen from Earth not with the naked eye, but through a powerful telescope of at least 30 inches in diameter. Still, space explorers have enjoyed observing the second moon. However, the asteroid was not visible due to its small size and low brightness. The minimoon is only 3.7 million kilometers away from Earth. Experts believe that the asteroid came from the Arjuna asteroid belt. The Arjuna asteroid belt is located 93 million miles from the Sun.

Asteroid 2024 PT5 was detected by NASA's Asteroid Detection System on August 7. If all goes well, the asteroid known as Earth's second moon will be seen again in 2055. Many astronomers believe that the asteroid was a fragment of the moon in ancient times.
