On the eve of the birth centenary of intellectual-educator-researcher martyr Professor Munir Chowdhury, Natyadal Theater has announced 'Munir Chowdhury Sammanna' and 'Mohammed Zakaria Smritipadak'.

In 2023, Kamaluddin Nilu was awarded the Munir Chowdhury Award and Bakar Bakul received the Mohammad Zakaria Memorial Medal. This time the two year honors and medals will be given at the same event.

The date of the event will be announced soon. The monetary value of Munir Chowdhury award is fifty thousand taka and the monetary value of Mohammad Zakaria medal is twenty five thousand taka.

It was informed in a press release on Tuesday that Shimul Yusuf, a talented stage actor and musician, is receiving the Munir Chowdhury award this year. Oriental actor Jahangir Alam has been nominated for Mohammad Zakaria Memorial Medal.

Medals have been given to an old genius since 1989 in memory of Shahid Munir Chowdhury and to a young genius since 1997 in memory of Mohammad Zakaria.

In 1999, Shimul Yusuf received the Mohammad Zakaria Memorial Medal. This time he is getting Munir Chowdhury award.

Ramendu Majumder, Director (Organizer) of theater troupe 'Theatre' said, "Last year also we announced the names of the awardees and medalists, but it was not officially handed over to them. This time we will present the two year awards and medals at the same event. The date of the event will be announced soon.

Ramendu Majumder said that these two honors and medals will be given every year from next year.

He said, basically this honor is given every year on the occasion of Munir Chowdhury's birth anniversary; But due to the covid pandemic, the event could not be held in 2020.

Ramendu said, next year, on the occasion of Munir Chowdhury's 96th birth anniversary, a ceremony will be held with honorees and medalists of two years. In the year 2022, two generations of geniuses, Lucky Inam and Saeeq Siddiqui, were given honors and medals.
