In his student life, the brilliant Saiful Islam Alif passed his application with a GPA of five from Adhunagar Islamia Fazil Madrasa in Lohagara. Passed Higher Secondary Examination from Chittagong Government College. After passing LLB from International Islamic University, Chittagong (IIUC), he joined the legal profession. Recently he was appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) of Chittagong Court.

He used to practice as a lawyer in Chittagong court. He was performing professional duties in the court during the incident like every day.

He had shared a Face the People card on his Facebook wall at 12:43 pm hours before his death on Tuesday. It was written there, 'All anti-fascist student organizations will unite for the next one week to observe 'National Student Solidarity Week'.
