In Jahangirnagar University (JAB) cafeteria, tension has arisen in the cafeteria premises in the fight for supremacy of the former leaders centered on inviting former and present leaders and activists of the Chhatra Dal to a reunion. Police recovered a bomb-like object near that place.

The incident took place in the cafeteria of the university on Thursday.

Sabbir Hossain, the former president of Zabi Chhatra Dal, organized the program titled 'Dupure Dal-Vater Dawat'. At that time, there was a discussion with the group of the two-time president of the Chhatra Dal, Parvez Mallick, and the two sides were about to clash.

Meanwhile, the presence of outsiders along with Chhatra Dal leaders and activists has been noticed in this event. The presence of the outsider was confirmed by talking to several people from Savar's Kalma and Royalia. After asking several people, it is known that they came to this program with the former Chhatra Dal leader of the university Nabinur Rahman Navin.

Several students complained that they were denied lunch in the cafeteria due to the tense situation surrounding the Chhatra Dal programme.

Meanwhile, a bomb-like object was found behind the BNCC office located next to the cafeteria. Later, at around 2 pm, in the presence of the university administration, Ashulia police station came and recovered it and deactivated it.

After defusing the bomb, university proctor Professor AAKM Rashidul Alam said that around 12:30 noon we received news that a bomb-like object was found behind the BNCC office. As soon as I was confirmed by the security wing, I informed the Additional SP of Ashulia police station. It was recovered and deactivated in the presence of Additional SP Shahinul Kabir. In view of this incident, I would like to request the law enforcement and intelligence agencies to keep a watchful eye in order to maintain the security of the campus.

On the question of the presence of outsiders in the event, he said, we do not want such an incident to happen in any way. Besides, those who are former, alumni of the university should also be aware. It is their responsibility to take permission from the university administration before conducting any kind of program respecting the university rules.

Ashulia Police Station Additional SP Shahinul Kabir said, we came here after receiving a call from the university administration. We defused a bomb-like object wrapped in red tape from the scene. In view of the situation, we feel that someone has done this with the aim of creating an unstable situation in the university.

He also said that for the sake of security, we will request the university administration to increase the overall CCTV surveillance. Besides, our police will also try their best to maintain the security here.

After that, the proctor of the university, Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, along with the proctoral body, entered the cafeteria and instructed the leaders to leave the place after completing the arrangements.
