Women are now no less than men in the dynamic lifestyle. From the field of education to the workplace, from business to politics, women are moving ahead with men everywhere. 'Woman' Shakti Woman 'Creation'. To make the name more respectful and contemporary, the word 'women' is being added to the name 'Ministry of Women and Child Affairs' instead of 'women'. At the same time, the word 'women' is being changed from the names of 'Women's Affairs Directorate' and 'National Women's Organization' under this ministry to 'women'. A decision regarding the name change was taken recently in an inter-ministerial meeting.
In this context, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Mumtaz Ahmed told Jugantar on Thursday, "We have decided to change the name of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs along with the name of the Directorate of Women Affairs and the National Women's Organization." According to the inter-ministerial decision, the name of the Ministry of Women and Children is being changed to 'Ministry of Women and Children'. Here the word Mahila is being replaced by the word woman and subject being deleted. On the other hand, it has been decided to change the name of the Department of Women's Affairs to replace the word "women" with the word "women" and cancel the word "affairs". Women are being added in place of the word Mahila in the National Women's Organization. That is, 'Women and Children's Ministry', 'Women's Directorate' and 'National Women's Organization' are being named. Secretary Mumtaz Ahmed also said that we have completed all the preparations. The special file of reforms has been sent to the Adviser (Sharmeen S. Murshid, Adviser, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs). Hope the advisor will take further action soon. Already, the issue has been discussed in various circles, everyone is in favor of changing the name 'Mahila'.
Maleka Banu, general secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, said that various national and international days are being celebrated in the name of 'women'. The initiative taken by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs to change the word Mahila to include women is definitely commendable. We also congratulate you. In response to the question whether your organization has any plans to change the word 'women', he said, not at the moment. Our organization is very old. Many traditions are associated with it. But we will discuss the matter. The Joint Secretary (Administration Division) of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, told Jugantar, "We hope that the name change will be implemented soon." It is known that the word 'woman' has been used in many places for a few years. For example: International Women's Day, National Women's Development Policy-2011, other laws, rules and policies related to women and in all social and institutional fields at home and abroad, instead of the word 'women', the word 'women' is used more. Moreover, articles 19, 27, 28 and 29 of the constitution of independent Bangladesh include women's equal rights, opportunities and empowerment in all other fields including political, social, economic fields.
