Lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was killed in Chittagong in a clash over the bail of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jot.
In this incident, his father Jamal Uddin filed a murder case at Chittagong Kotwali Police Station as the plaintiff. 31 people have been accused in the case.
The accused in the case are - Chandan, Aman Das, Shubo Kanti Das, Bunja, Ranab, Bidhan, Vikas, Ramit, Rumit Das, Nayan Das, Gagan Das, Vishal Das, Omkar Das, Vishal, Rajkapur, residents of Bundel Road Sevak Colony area of Kotwali police station in the city. , Lala, Sameer, Sohail Das, Shiv Kumar, Biglal, Parash, Ganesh, Om Das, Poppy, Ajay, Devi Charan, Dev, Joy, Durlabh Das and Rajeev Bhattacharya among others.
Apart from this, another case has been filed against 400 to 500 unknown people, including the names of 115 people who have been accused of assaulting and vandalizing lawyers in the court premises. Khan Alam, elder brother of deceased lawyer Alif, filed the case as plaintiff.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Public Relations Officer of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Kazi Muhammad Tarek Aziz confirmed the matter of the case. He said, the cases will be investigated. The police have already arrested some suspects. After verifying and analyzing the incident, legal action will be taken against those involved in Alif's murder.
Earlier, three cases were filed by the police in connection with the clash of last Tuesday in the court premises. In those three cases, 76 people were named and 1 thousand 400 people were named as anonymous accused.
Among the 38 people arrested in the clash, nine have been confirmed to be involved in the lawyer's murder. If there is a case of murder, the police said that they will be arrested in that case as well.
After the order to send Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachari to prison in the sedition case was denied on Tuesday, the people of Sanatan community protested around the prison van in the Chittagong court premises. After two-and-a-half hours, the police dispersed the protesters by lobbing sound grenades and took Chinmoy Das to jail.
The protesters vandalized several motorcycles and vehicles parked on the court road. Then the general lawyers and employees of the court chased them. Lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was brutally hacked to death on the Rangam Convention Hall road during the chase.
In a video circulating on social media, lawyer Alif was killed on the road to Rangam Convention Hall. While he was lying on the road, he was being beaten by several bystanders. Deputy Commissioner Raich Uddin said that many of the people who were seen in the video and in the video wearing helmets and armed with sharp weapons and batons have been identified.
According to the police, Rumit Das, Gagan Das, Sumit Das, Nayan Das, Vishal Das, Manu Methor, Aman Das and Rajeev Bhattacharya are accused in the case of assault on the police. Besides, they are also suspected to be involved in murder.
