We will establish a national government through PR system elections: Charmonai Pir

Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Ameer and Charmonai Pir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, has called for the establishment of a national government through the proportional representation (PR) election system.

Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Ameer and Charmonai Pir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, has called for the establishment of a national government through the proportional representation (PR) election system.

Charmonai Pir said, 'Those who talk about elections seem to have fallen into the trap of conspirators. We must have national unity. Those who want to bring the Awami League under the leadership of corrupt and looters are the enemies of the country. Fascists have been created in past elections. Therefore, we want to establish a national government through elections using the PR method.'

He made these remarks at a central conference held at the open stage of Suhrawardy Udyan on Friday, chaired by Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh central president Nurul Bashar Azizi and conducted by Secretary General Muhammad Muntasir Ahmed.

He said, "I have told the head of the interim government not to go against the beliefs and faith of the people. Despite objections, Farooqui (advisor) was not removed. I hope the government will take action in this regard. We must learn from the history of 16 years and 53 years and complete the necessary reforms and organize elections."

Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Secretary General of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, spoke at the conference. He said that members of the Islamic Students' Movement are not found involved in tender rigging, extortion, or terrorist activities.
