International Desk: Russia is said to have set up a secret combat drone project in China and is aiming to develop long-range attack drones for use in the war against Ukraine.

The information comes from two sources in a European intelligence agency and documents reviewed by Reuters.

IEMZ Couple, a subsidiary of Russian state arms company Almaz-Antey, has developed and test-launched a new drone model, the Garpia-3 (G3), with the help of Chinese experts.

Kupal sent a report to the Russian Defense Ministry earlier this year detailing their work.

In another report, Couple said they were able to mass-produce drones, including the G3, at a factory in China for use in what is known as 'special military operations' in the Ukraine war.

Kupal, Almaz-Antei and the Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on Reuters' request for details.

However, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they are not aware of any such project. It is also reported that the country has maintained a strict control system on the export of drones. Source: Al-Jazeera
