Rescuers fear to recover more bodies. Thousands of Spanish military personnel, along with regional and local emergency services personnel, participated in the rescue operation to deal with the disaster. The region of Valencia suffered the most damage from the floods. At least 92 people died there.

The raging tide caused massive damage across the area, with cars crashing into each other, trees uprooted, power lines snapped and household items stuck on the ground.

"Our priority is to find the bodies and the missing," said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. In order to ease the suffering of their families.

Pedro Sánchez met emergency services and regional officials in Valencia on Thursday.

Spain's flash floods are being described as the worst in recent memory. The town of Paiporta, near the city of Valencia, was also damaged by the floods. Maribel Albalat, the mayor of the city, said, "We have never had such a flood here before, many elderly people were trapped in the center of the city."

Flooding has spread across the southern and eastern coasts. Two people died in the Castilla la Mancha region and one in southern Andalusia, local authorities said.

A high-speed train derailed in Andalusia on Tuesday night. However, none of the 300 passengers were injured. Vast swaths of farmland in southern Spain were heavily damaged by the floods. The Met Office has issued a red warning for parts of the Valencia region and Catalonia's Tarragona region, and an orange warning for southwestern Cadiz.
